POSITION TITLE: PLAY AREA CLERK SUMMARY OF ROLE: Exceed our customers’ evolving expectations by providing World Class customer service and a pleasant and rewarding shopping experience. Our play area clerk is responsible for overseeing children of customers in the on-site supervised play area. REQUIREMENTS: 1. Must project a clean and professional appearance. 3. Must enjoy working with and relating to children and their needs. 4. Must have good judgment and decision-making skills. 5. Ability to deal with customers effectively and diplomatically. 6. Must be a team player with a positive attitude and businesslike conduct. 7. Must possess creative arts & crafts skills. 8. Ability to operate within Company policies, procedures, and standards. 9. Ability to work a flexible schedule in accordance with the needs of the store. 10. Attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through. 11. Must be 18 years of age. 12. Ability to learn and utilize computer applications. 13. Must consent to and pass a drug screen and background investigation at time of hire or transfer to position. 14. Must be First Aid and CPR certified. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Exceed our customers’ evolving expectations by providing World Class customer service and a pleasant and rewarding shopping experience. 2. Use Creative and Suggestive Selling Team? (C.A.S.S.T.) and 10 Foot Rule? techniques to build relationships, educate our customers, and create sales. 3. Interact with, attend to, and monitor safety of customers’ children. 4. Enter and maintain registration information and handle Kid’s Club check in process. 5. Design and prepare materials for craft projects. 6. Engage in and encourage continuous improvement through ideas and innovation (e.g., Group Problem Solving? (GPS) and Keep Thinking?). 7. Adhere to all government employment and labor regulations, as well as all Company policies and procedures (e.g., employment laws concerning minors, harassment, discrimination, etc.). 8. Adhere to all government food safety and sanitation regulations, as well as all Company policies and procedures (e.g., cleaning, sanitizing, etc.). 9. Adhere to all government safety regulations, as well as all Company policies and procedures (e.g., proper use of equipment, cleaning, straightening, vacuuming, clearing unsafe conditions, etc.). 10. Adhere to all Company loss prevention policies and procedures (e.g., controlling waste and utilities, damaged goods, reporting theft, etc.). 11. Adhere to all Company procedures regarding store conditions as outlined in 5S (Sort and remove, Shine and inspect, Set locations and visual cues, Systematize, Stay the course). 12. Complete all training requirements by respective due dates. SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: 1. Bag groceries, return back-shop, and perform other tasks. 2. Operate a cash register. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 1. Medium work: Lifting 50 lb. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs. 2. Continuously standing, walking, fingering, and handling. 3. Frequently bending, reaching, balancing, and feeling. 4. Frequently squatting, climbing, kneeling, or crouching.
